All international students must register within 7 days upon the arrival to the Russian Federation and/or within 3 days after receiving a new visa and receive a registration slip.
How do I complete initial migration registration?
You must be registered strictly at the address of your actual stay in Russia. Procedures for official registration with the migration authorities depend on your place of stay:
- Those living in a dormitory or an alternative accommodation for RosNOU University students should contact the Office of International Students Affairs the next day and submit the following documents:
1.1 copies of all passport pages with stamps and visas;
1.2 copy of the migration card with the stamp on crossing the Russian border;
1.3 copy of the educational contract;
1.4 extract from the Order for Admission (or for Transfer to the Next Year) - vypiska iz prikaza /
1.5 certificate from the Dean’s Office confirming that the foreign citizen is a student of a particular Institute at RosNOU (spravka iz dekanata);
1.6 one matte photo 3 x 4 cm.
- Those foreign students who rent a rented appartment and do not live in RosNOU’s dormitory must register themselves. To do that, they and the owner of the flat they live in need to apply to the Multifunctional Centre or Migration Department.
- Those staying in a hotel or hostel should contact the hotel administrator.
Please note, in case you fail to get registered upon arrival, you will be subject to a state penalty of 7000 rubles and might be deported and rejected further entry to Russia.
Do not buy registration services from untrustworthy companies, it is provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia free of charge.
- All international students are requied to undergo the statutory medical examination within 90 days of their arrival.
- Medical examination carried out at Moscow City Clinic #3 (22/26 Yermolaevsky Lane, Building 1, Room 107) during the office hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; prior appointment is not required).
- In case you need assistance, contact the Office of International Students Affairs.
- All international students are obliged to undergo the statutory fingerprinting within 90 days of their arrival. This made at the territorial department of migration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moscow (MVD).
- If you stay at RosNOU dorm, contact the RosNOU Office of International Students Affairs to get the information about MVD migration offices. If you rent your accommodation you should visit the local Migration Office in your neighborhood.
- Prepare the required documents before your visit:
3.1 Passport +notarized copy translated into Russian (the biographical page with your photo). The copy translated into Russian must be stitched together with the copy of your original passport; Important: Translation must be done in Russia and verified by the Russian notary only!
3.2 Visa + its copy (for international students from visa required countries);
3.3 Migration card + its copy;
3.4 Migration registration + its copy;
3.5 Medical examination results (medical certificate, HIV certificate, psychiatrist’s and narcologist’s assessment) + their copies.
International students must submit documents for visa extension 45 days before their visa expires.
To prolong visa, it is required to submit the following documents:
