Палкин3

Evgeniy Palkin is a Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, USSR State Prize laureate.

His research interests include: application of catastrophe theory methods in mathematical models of complex systems (Radiophysics), Sociology, nanotechnologies in innovative projects.

Evgeniy Palkin has more than 130 scientific publications, including one textbook and two monographs.

On the basis of the asymptotic approach that he developed, applying the theory of singularities of differentiable mappings (catastrophe theory), Evgeniy Palkin solved a number of important applied problems of the geometrical theory of diffraction and wave field focusing.

At present, Evgeniy Palkin is actively engaged in scientific and research work under scientific programmes of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Russian Foundation for Basic Research. Apart from that, he administers activities aimed at developing scientific research at RosNOU.

From 1999 to 2012, scientific activities at RosNOU were supervised by Professor Sergey P. KAPITSA.

Sergey P. KAPITSA (1928 – 2012) was a Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, editor-in-chief of the Russian-language version of the Scientific American journal, the one and only host of the popular science TV programme “The Obvious and the Incredible”, chief research officer of P.L. Kapitza Institute for Physical Problems, scientific supervisor of Russian New University (RosNOU) from 1999 to 2012.

Sergey Kapitsa wrote four books, dozens of articles, made fourteen inventions and one discovery. He created the phenomenological mathematical model of hyperbolic growth of the world population. He was the first to establish the fact of hyperbolic growth of the world population before 1 AD. Sergey Kapitsa was also one of the founders of Cliodynamics.

Among Sergey Kapitsa’s awards there were: 1979 UNESCO Kalinga Prize, 1980 USSR State Prize for creating the popular science TV programme “The Obvious and the Incredible”, Russian Academy of Sciences’ Award for science popularization, Russian Federation Government Award in the field of education (2002), Order of Honour (2006), Order IV class “For Merit to the Fatherland” (2011), Golden Medal of the Russian Academy of Sciences for outstanding achievements in dissemination of scientific knowledge (2012).
