— Dear students, professors, and administrative staff of the Russian New University, I wholeheartedly congratulate you on the Day of Russian Science!
Science has always made a significant contribution to the development of the domestic economy and the improvement of living standards. It is thanks to science that our country (regardless of what it is called — the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, or Russia) continues to be one of the world leaders.
Breakthroughs in the nuclear industry, space flights, and many other outstanding achievements have brought glory to our scientists. But today, we are faced with new tasks, and the most burning of them has to do with biophysics in the broad sense of its meaning. As Sergey P. Kapitsa* used to say, the main task for us is to study the human being. The events of recent years related to the pandemic have proved how right he was: if we knew better how the human body works, we would meet the challenges of nature in a much more effective way.
To make a scientific discovery, one needs a solid knowledge base, a firm belief that the chosen direction of their research is the right one, an unwavering desire to solve the problem one works on, and, of course, inspiration. I wish all of us to seek and find creative approaches to the scientific riddles and problems that we are interested in.
I wish you new scientific achievements that will benefit our country and the world!
Sincerely yours,
Prof. Vladimir A. ZERNOV
