One of the biggest private universities in Russia — Russian New University (RosNOU) — has been training foreign citizens for 20 years. Today, about 450 international students from around 30 countries, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Greece, India, Indonesia, Iran, China, Pakistan, Serbia, Sudan and the USA, are undergoing training at RosNOU.

Helping international students to adjust to living in Russia has always been our top priority. We try to find an individual approach to everyone: from picking up from the airport to tackling organizational issues related to the educational process and living in the dormitory, including day-to-day issues.

The translator at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK Wahid Razvi Syed Ata Ul came to Russia from Pakistan and in 2009 entered RosNOU at the program “Translation and Theory of Translation” with a major in Farsi after completing RosNOU’s Preparatory Russian Language Course. "I lived and studied in Russia and found such great pleasure in it!" reminisces Wahid.

At RosNOU, he has completed the Bachelor program in Linguistics, Master’s program in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language and has started Ph.D. studies in Culturology.

I've always had a keen interest in languages. Back in my country, I completed intensive courses in English and Arabic. During one month we spoke and wrote only in English (then one month – only in Arabic). Even a word said in another language meant a fine. For me, the monetary penalty wasn't as awful as the shame!

I’d say that the Arabic and Russian languages have a lot in common. The knowledge of Arabic helped me in learning Russian – a very difficult, but systematized, structured and rich language.

Now Wahid is 37, he is fluent in Russian, English, Urdu, Persian and Arabic, delivers humanitarian disciplines in English and accompanies Russian-speaking delegations at the events of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association UK.

I am grateful to those who guided and helped me and I am grateful to Russia for the opportunity to develop professionally. I truly love my job— it’s a bridge between adherents of different societies, religions, and cultures.
