RosNOU is included in the list of 75 universities in Russia that have the greatest impact on society (according to the results of the RAEX study).

RosNOU is included in the list of the best universities in the world of the Moscow International University Ranking "The Three University Missions" (MosIUR).
RosNOU is included in the top-400 QS BRICS 2019 (ranking of the best universities in Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).
2018
RosNOU is included in the top-100 of the first ranking of Russian universities, compiled by Forbes magazine.
RosNOU is included in the top-300 QS EECA University Rankings (ranking of the best universities in developing countries in Europe and Central Asia).
2017
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology is founded. Later the faculty becomes a part of the Institute of Information Systems and Computer Engineering Technologies.
2016
RosNOU passes successfully the planned state accreditation.
2015
RosNOU is one of the five best universities in Russia according to the scientific citation index (Hirsch index).
2014
RosNOU opens an educational building on Vilisa Latsisa Street.
The Moscow Tax Institute merges with RosNOU.
RosNOU becomes a member of the international association IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence.
2013
RosNOU is included in the National University Ranking "Interfax" (top-200 universities in the CIS, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia).
2012
According to the monitoring results of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, RosNOU is recognized as an effective university.
RosNOU is included in the top-100 Russian universities according to the research of the "Expert RA" Rating Agency.
RosNOU begins admission to state-funded places.
2011
RosNOU opens its own educational and training center - "Veles" park-hotel.
2006
RosNOU is awarded the Labor Valor Order.
2005
According to the results of an expert survey of the "Public Expertise" Institute, RosNOU is recognized as the best private university in Russia.
2004
RosNOU opens its own student dormitory on Aviamotornaya Street.
2001
RosNOU College is founded.
1999
RosNOU moves to its own building on Radio Street (main building).
The Faculty of Information Systems and Computer Technologies is founded.
Sergey P. Kapitsa becomes RosNOU’s scientific supervisor.
1998
The Faculty of Technologies for Humanities is established.
The Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy is established.
1995
The Faculty of Business Technologies is established.
The Faculty of Economics, Management and Finance is established.
1992
The first faculty of RosNOU – the Law Faculty – is founded.
1991
The Russian Independent Open University (RosNOU) is founded. Later it is renamed into the Russian New University (RosNOU).
