The Global Aggregated Ranking included universities that, based on the results of the year 2020, had been presented in at least two of the rankings. In total, 2,930 universities from 120 countries made their way into the ranking. Proceeding from the overall number of universities in the world (around 25,000, according to webometrics.info), the experts determined the top 1 % of universities which is 250 higher education institutions of the aggregated ranking. Thus, the first 500 universities are in the Top 2 % group, the first 2,500 universities – in the Top 10 % group, and the first 4,000 universities – in the Top 15 % group.
The countries leading in the number of universities presented in the aggregated ranking are the USA (344 universities), China (252 universities), and Japan (138 universities). Russia took fourth place with 108 universities in the ranking.
Russian New University (RosNOU) has outrun 90% of universities around the world and made its way into the Top 10 % group.
Apart from RosNOU, the world’s best 2,500 universities included Saint Petersburg Electrotechnical University LETI, Moscow Aviation Institute, MGIMO University, National Research University of Electronic Technology MIET, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration RANEPA, Russian State University for the Humanities, National University of Oil and Gas “Gubkin University”, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, North-Caucasus Federal University, Siberian Federal University, Innopolis University, and other major Russian universities.
In total, the National Aggregated Ranking included only three private Russian universities: RosNOU (Top 10%), Innopolis University (Top 10%), and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology “Skoltech” (Top 15 %).

In the Global Aggregated Ranking, such personal goals of particular rankings are counterbalanced, and what is coming to the fore is how a university is presented in the whole civilizational space and how interesting it is to the civilization as an organization providing education.
Although, from a prospective student's point of view, the important thing is not how a university looks like in the civilizational space but whether it will provide quality education in the chosen field of study or not. But of course, the quality of education at a particular university correlates with its position in the Global Aggregated Ranking.
