In the midst of the application period, prospective students strive to get an idea about the quality of teaching and study environment at different universities and compare various educational programs. But even universities that implement the same educational program can differ significantly one from another in terms of the education quality. In order to help prospective students navigate through the diversity of educational programs and choose the university that would meet all their wishes, the Guild of Experts in the Field of Vocational Education and the National Fund for Support of Innovations in Education have compiled a new National Aggregated Ranking by Subject.

According to the ranking’s founders, it unites 55 subject rankings in integrated groups of training areas that cover all the educational programs implemented at higher education institutions in Russia.

The National Aggregated Ranking by Subject takes into account the results of educational programs recognition by academic and professional community and employers, the results of entrance examinations, and data from bibliometrical resources. Thus, nine educational programs of the Russian New University got into the First League of the ranking in three integrated groups of training areas: 37.00.00 Psychological Science, 38.00.00 Economics and Management, and 42.00.00 Mass Media and Library and Information Science.

37.03.01 Psychology
38.03.01 Economics
38.03.02 Management
38.03.03 Human Resource Management
38.03.04 State and Municipal Management
38.03.05 Business Informatics
38.05.02 Customs
42.03.01 Advertizing and Public Relations
42.03.03 Publishing

— Rankings by subject are a smarter tool for assessing a university’s achievements in particular fields of science or vocational training areas, — the organizers note. — The information will be useful both for the specialists engaged in assessing education quality and for general public, especially for prospective students and their parents.

What helped the Russian New University to take leading positions in the ranking? According to Igor V. Darda, the Vice-Rector for Education Quality and Accreditation at RosNOU, stable performance and obtaining of professional and public accreditation by the university played their part in it.

— In late spring and early summer this year, several programs of our university underwent the procedure of professional and public accreditation. The event coincided with the summing-up of various education rankings. RosNOU got into Top 100 higher education institutions in Russia according to the 11th annual ranking of best Russian universities RAEX-100 that was published on 8 June 2022. On the same day, the National Aggregated Ranking by Subject published its lists. The ranking assessed educational programs of all higher education institutions in Russia dividing them into five leagues.

Why is the ranking called aggregated? Because it takes into account the results of rankings of Russian higher education institutions that are compiled on the basis of open databases and assess the education quality, results of professional and public accreditation, publication activity as well as graduates’ employment and public recognition. It is nice to realize that nine educational programs at RosNOU have found their way into the First League. We are not in the Premier League yet but it is the goal we need to strive for.
