On 7th March 2021, conversational student club “Russia-China: Listening and Speaking”, with the support from RosNOU’s International Affairs & Academic Mobility Directorate, held its pilot meeting in the online mode. The participants in the meeting included three RosNOU students majoring in Chinese and one PhD student from China who speaks Russian.
The purpose of the pilot meeting was to test what kind of exercises would suit the conversational club in the online mode most and how much time it would take to complete these exercises. The participants did such exercises as translating numbers and some grammar constructions from Russian to Chinese and from Chinese to Russian, speaking on a suggested topic and asking each other questions. At the end of the meeting, the participants aired their views on how to make the completion of exercises more effective and came to a unanimous conclusion that the
conversational student club “Russia-China: Listening and Speaking” is ready for full-scale work with the participation of Chinese students.
The club’s meetings will be held every Sunday at 11 am, Moscow time (4 pm, Beijing time). Duration of one meeting – 1.5 hours.
The club is also planning to hold culture-oriented meetings where students will make presentations about their home country, its history, culture and traditions.
The idea to launch a conversational club where RosNOU students majoring in Chinese and Chinese students majoring in Russian could enhance their skills in listening, writing and translating belongs to Ildar Nekrasov, a third-year student of RosNOU’s Institute of Technologies for Humanities. He also assumed the responsibility of the club’s head.
