On April 3, 2021, the Institute of Psychology and Pedagogics of the Russian New University (IPP RosNOU) held a class within the framework of the project "University Saturdays". The Department of General Psychology and the Psychological Laboratory of the IPP RosNOU organized the lesson "Psychophysiological Predictors of Career Choice" for schoolchildren. During the lesson, Associate Professor Lyubov P. Nikolaeva introduced the guests to the unique and latest technologies that are used in psychological work: "Sand modeling", "Cardiometry in psychology" and "Oculographic diagnostics in psychological research". The Head of the Department of General Psychology and Labor Psychology Elvira V. Likhacheva talks about psychological technologies and majors "Psychology" and "Psychological and Pedagogical Education".
What is interesting about the technologies of sand modeling, cardiometry and oculographic diagnostics?
At RosNOU, sand modeling is used in the training of future psychologists and coaches. Students learn it from the first year and actively apply it in practice.
Sand modeling is the construction of compositions on the sand with the help of toy figures that are associated with some events (achieving your dreams, important negotiations, big presentation) or aspects of your life (an important organization for this person, relationships with loved ones, his/her work team, study group, and so on). In fact, in a special box for placing sand, a person, like a director in a theater or movie, plays scenes from his/her own life with the help of toy figures. As a result, he/she manages to visualize what can be done and how to improve such situations and manage such events.
In combination with sand modeling, other modern technologies can also be used. For example, technologies of holographic and radiometric diagnostics are very useful.
