On January 14, 2021, the Marketing Department of the Russian New University summed up the results of the student photo contest "In the Focus", held at RosNOU from September to December 2020.
319 works were submitted for the competition, which were evaluated in six categories by genre:
The participants' photos were evaluated by an international jury: British blogger, photographer, film maker Sean Tucker, self-taught photographer and urban researcher from New York Nicholas Miller, and the official photographer of the Premier League and the Major League of KVN, awardee of the international photo contest "Science is Beautiful" Sergey Zemnukhov.
Winners and laureates will receive personalized diplomas and gifts, and their photo works will be placed in the hall of the fourth floor of RosNOU.
“I love the shooting process itself. I like to work with people, pick up images, and come up with stories that I want to tell with this or that photo. I decided to take part in the contest because it is an interesting experience.
It is very difficult to submit your work for evaluation, especially for a person who is a freshman in the field of photography. Understanding that the competition is high, did not give me peace of mind. I spent a long time choosing photos to add to the album. It is difficult to evaluate your own work and choose a photo to fit both the theme and the quality requirements.
If you check the works of the photo contest of previous years, you can note huge progress in the quality of photos. And it's very cool! This year, the competition was high, and a lot of outstanding works were presented for the contest. I had my favorites, who deservedly won prizes.”
Each participant, who became a laureate or awardee, brought to his/her institute (college) 1 point in the Rector's Cup. In addition, the training units received points for the best results shown in the competition by their representatives.
